Tracks - Number one in Australian surfing

For 40 years Tracks has tapped into the minds of cheeky grommets and grizzled gurus alike, and remains the voice of hardcore surfing in Australia today. Tracks is a no-bullshit, proudly Australian mag, a mag that’s not afraid to take the piss or scratch below the surface. While other mags will tell you they’re the one for the grommets, or that fashion is their gig, Tracks will feed you none of this shit. Our demographic isn’t dictated by numbers, isn’t measured by age, or by one’s propensity to wear scarves to the beach during summer. We’re purely a mag for surfers. Full stop. And that’s why Tracks outsells the lot of ‘em. There’s a saying around the office that “only Tracks could run a story like that” and it’s true. Our stories come from the surfing heartland. They’re topical, soul-searching, inspirational, and occasionally very stupid.

We’ve assembled the Australia’s best surf writers and photographers for the job, and while they’re seldom home and they rarely shower, they do know surfing better than anyone. Other titles will continue to put together a mag for themselves. We’ll just go about our business, putting together the magazine the surfing punter wants. From the amazing to the mildly amusing, from the weird to the wild, Tracks has become more a state of mind than a magazine.
